Machine Guns Mature Technology With State-Of-The-Art Design
Weapon design at Heckler & Koch is consistently aimed at improvement of quality features, which have turned out to be useful in military practices. The perceptions and experience gained from national and international weapon tests under stringent conditions and incorporated in the design of the Heckler & Koch Machine Guns.
For these reasons the improved HK21EE and HK11E features an excellent performance and durability and represent today's most advanced machine gun technology.
The Heckler & Koch HK21E and HK11E Machine Guns are designed for maximum reliability, accuracy and toughness. Their modular construction permits the easy conversion from a belt fed to a magazine fed gun and visa versa.
Their weight and exterior dimensions make them real one-man-weapons even in the belt fed configuration, where one man can carry and handle the weapon and a full load of ammunition. Firing is possible from all positions, even from the hip.
The Heckler & Koch HK21E and HK11E Machine Guns feature a series of unique design characteristics which make them superior state-of-the-art weapons in their class.
Design Characteristics
+ Bolt System
Recoil-operated, roller locked bolt system, designed along the functional lines of the worldwide proven G3 Assault Rifle. The characteristic that the Heckler & Koch Machine Guns fire from a closed bolt is an exceptional feature and reduces the proneness to stoppages caused by the ingress of external foulings into the chamber, as compared to machine guns firing from an open bolt. In addition, firing from a closed bolt, combined with the symmetric locking of the bolt and the quality of production enhances the HK Machine Guns' accuracy in a way that it comes close to that of a sniper rifle.
+ Trigger Mechanism
The design of the Heckler & Koch Machine Guns' trigger mechanism ensures safe carrying and handling of these weapons under all conditions of deployment. For the accurate firing at point targets and the avoidance of wasted of ammunition the HK21E and HK11E are provided with "Single Shot" and "Burst Fire" modes, additionally to the "Sustained Fire" mode.
+ Belt Fed Mechanism
The HK21E belt feed mechanism smoothly feeds the belted ammunition in two stages, during the rearward and the forward movement of the belt.
+ Barrel Characteristics
All Heckler & Koch Machine Gun barrels are quickly exchangeable and are provided with a heat insulated barrel grip which permits the machine gunner to grip and hold the hot barrel without the need of gloves or mittens. Heckler & Koch's advanced cold-forging barrel manufacturing method, the hard chrome plating and the polygonal bore profile of the Heckler & Koch Machine Gun barrels reduce fouling, facilitate cleaning and furthermore decisively increase the barrels's service lives to worldclass top level.
+ Carrying Handle
For well balanced carrying the HK21E and HK11E Machine Guns are provided with an integral carrying handle, located at the weapon's center of gravity.
+ Forward Assist
For low-noise bolt closure the HK21E and HK11E Machine Guns are equipped with a forward assist.
+ Belt Box
The Heckler & Koch belt box holds 100 rounds belted ammunition of calibre 7.62 mm x 51 and is rapidly attachable to the bottom of the belt feed housing. It considerably facilitates the handling of long belts.
+ Sight Mount
A quickly attachable/detachable sight mount is available for the Heckler & Koch Machine Guns which fits all sighting devices with STANAG fitting dimensions. The Heckler & Koch sight mount is shock proof and ensures an unchanged boresight after repeated attachment and detachment.
+ Assault Grip
For holding the Heckler & Koch Machine Gun when firing from the hip the firer may fix the quickly attachable assault grip at his convenience in a slot on the front of the receiver.
+ Exchange Barrels
Exchange barrels can be safely stored and kept ready in a transport container which also protects the firer from hot barrels.
