HK MG43

The new Heckler & Koch Machine Gun in cal. 5.56 mm x 45 NATO is a heavy-duty belt fed machine gun with outstanding performance characteristics.

The new HK Machine Gun is a gas-operated system firing from an open breech.

The new HK Machine Gun is of extremely rugged design and is laid out for firing bursts in the "sustained fire mode".

Feeding of the belted rounds is carried out in two stages from the left, with an improved pawl feeding mechanism.

Belt pull is extremely strong and the HK Machine Gun is designed for functioning reliably under adverse conditions with a wide range of the standard ammunitions from different producers without the necessity of adjusting the gas operating system.

Handling of the HK Machine Gun is as safe as possible. Accidental discharges when cocking the bolt or a "runaway gun", i.e. a gun which fires in an uncontrollable manner due to breakage of parts or faulty ammunition are prevented by a specific automation safety mechanism.

The HK MG43 is provided with a quick exchange barrel, which can be safely exchanged even in the hot condition without the need of protective gloves.

The HK MG43's butt stock is foldable and is provided with an interior compartment for a field cleaning kit. Even with the butt stock folded the gun is fully operable.

Case ejection is downward, with the option of ejection to the right. As a standard sight system the HK MG43 is provided with a mechanical sight with range settings up to 1000 m. In addition to the mechanical sight, day or night sighting optics, light projectors or laser pointers can be applied to Picatinny Rails on the weapon's receiver.

A foldable bipod is attached to the machine gun's forend. Supporting interfaces have been provided on the HK Machine Gun to mount it to the US M2 Tripod or other mounts with the same fitting interfaces.

Special care has been taken during development to keep maintenance costs and lifer cycle costs of the HK MG43 as low as possible.
