HK Mark 23 Special Operations Pistol - Tough, Accurate and Reliable. Only the best equipment for the best units.
After most severe and uncompromising evaluations the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has now adopted Heckler & Koch' s HK Mark 23 Special Operations Pistol as the new service pistol for U.S. Elite Forces like U.S. Navy Seals, U.S. Air Force Special Operations Wing and the U.S. Army Rangers. The new pistol is officially classified as the MK23, MOD O, USSOCOM Pistol, Semi-Automatic, Cal .45.
The Heckler & Koch HK Mark 23 Special Operations Pistol is designed to fire strong loaded .45 calibre + P ammunition, standard M 1911 ball ammunition and commercially available .45 calibre cartridges. The pistol is required to have a service life of 30,000 rounds + P ammunition. Accuracy requirement is such that with quality ammunition a 5 round shot group at 25 m must be within a circle of 2.5 inches diameter with the pistol fired from a rest.
Design Characteristics
+ Improved Browning Type Locking Mechanism
+ Patented Recoil Buffering System
Both, the impulse of the rearward traveling barrel and slide, are effectively buffered, thus eliminating the direct transmission of recoil forces to the pistol' s frame and the shooter' s hand.
+ Polymer Frame With Non-Corrosive Steel Reinforcements
For the reduction of weight and the increase of the pistol' s durability the frame is made of high-quality, fiber-reinforced polymer which is additionally stiffened by stainless steel inserts at all areas which are subject to stress or friction.
+ Cold Forged Barrel with Polygonal Profile
In order to guarantee match-grade accuracy of the pistol, the barrel is provided with a wear and temperature resistant synthetic-centering ring. The barrel' s muzzle is threaded to accept attachments.
+ Steel Magazine with a Capacity of 12 Rounds
+ Ambidextrous Magazine Release
+ Ambidextrous Safety Lever
The safety lever can only be set at "safe" with the hammer cocked. In this way the pistol can be carried in the American style, i.e. with the hammer cocked and locked by the safety.
+ Separate Decocking Lever on the Left Side of the Grip
For safely and quietly lowering the hammer
+ Single and Double Action Trigger
+ Automatic Firing Pin and Hammer Safety
+ Maritime Finish
In order to meet the stringent operational and environmental requirements and to protect the pistol from any corrosion, a special abrasive-resistant coating protects the pistol' s metallic surfaces.
