Military Sniper Rifle 7.62 MM X 51 Caliber
The task of a military sniper is to combat and neutralize highly important targets. Sniping, however, does no longer mean sniping merely at picked out living targets. The sniper's bating of very important technical facilities such as generators, radar directing centre, radio direction-finding stations, electronic installations and other similar objects. Such technical facilities are rated more and more important under tactical aspects.
The sniper being in action depends completely upon himself, and therefore he needs a special weapon which has a high level of accuracy and does not affect his mobility, i.e. a weapon as light as possible.
The military sniper needs a semi-automatic rifle of high fire power which enables the user to defend himself effectively if he has been located by enemy shooters. The MSG90 complies perfectly with the technical requirements of a military sniper rifle.
Some of its operating elements are adaptable to the individual sniper's optimal practicability. With a barrel length of 600 mm the exterior ballistic performance of the 7.62mm x 51 caliber cartridge is fully optimized. The telescopic sight mount with STANAG fitting dimensions can easily be detached, thus permitting the change of different telescopic sight models within seconds.
The main characteristics of the MSG90 are:
