Its modular design and the interchangeability of parts and assemblies make the MP5 Weapon System a universal tool for the user. In the basic version the MP5 Submachine Gun is equipped with a rigid butt stock and a grip assembly featuring a fire selector lever with "Single" and "Sustained Fire" mode settings. By the exchange and combination of the different grip assemblies and butt stock assemblies the basic MP5 version is easily convertible into a weapon having a retractable butt stock or a weapon with a grip featuring an ambidextrous fire selector lever with the settings "Single Fire", "Burst" and "Sustained Fire". Moreover, it is even possible to fit a receiver cap to the MP5 instead of the butt stock.
Design Features
+ Bolt System
The Heckler & Koch MP5 Submachine Gun was designed along the functional lines of the G3, the standard rifle of the German Armed Forces. In the same manner of the G3 Rifle, the MP5 Submachine Gun features the unique recoil operated roller-locked bolt now optimised for the 9 mm Parabellum cartridge, firing from a closed position. This well proven bolt design contributes primarily to the weapon's inherent accuracy and reliability under adverse conditions with only a minimum requirement for cleaning and maintenance. Due to is smooth recoil characteristics this roller-locked bolt system ensures an optimum controllability of the MP5 Submachine Gun when firing bursts or sustained fire.
+ Trigger Mechanism
The MP5 trigger mechanism is also based on the highly reliable G3 trigger system. The design of this trigger mechanism ensures maximum possible safety for the shooter.
+ Barrel Characteristics
Another exceptional feature of the Heckler & Koch MP5 Submachine Gun is its fixed barrel, precision manufactured by applying the cold forging technology, thus guaranteeing the extremely long service life and accuracy of the weapon.
+ MP5 SD - Silent & Accurate
Unlike other silenced weapons the Heckler & Koch MP5 SD is designed to work with standard loaded 9 mm x 19 ammunition. This makes the Heckler & Koch MP5 SD an outstanding weapon in this class as it does not require specially manufactured subsonic cartridges in order to achieve a significant reduction of the muzzle report and the elimination of the supersonic noise of the projectile.
